Cannabidiol, commonly referred to as “CBD” is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid produced by hemp and cannabis plants. CBD is one of hundreds of known cannabinoids and can be starkly contrasted with tetrahydrocannabinol or “THC” which is known for its psychoactive effects. Research suggests the most common uses for CBD include; pain, anxiety, stress and sleep but there are countless others.
The most popular cannabinoids include CBD, THC and CBG but there are hundreds more. Cannabinoids are compounds that are synthesized by the cannabis or hemp plant. Cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system within the human body.
Full spectrum CBD oil includes all of the compounds produced by the cannabis or hemp plant. This means that full spectrum CBD products have more terpenes (aromas) and other constituents within the oil than broad spectrum and CBD isolates. Full Spectrum CBD Oil products are increasingly popular as consumers want to experience the full benefits of the plant and its entourage effect.
Broad spectrum CBD oil includes many additional compounds, but the THC has been completely removed. Athletes subject to testing requirements, for example, can look to Broad spectrum CBD products.
CBD Isolate products contain only CBD and have had all other terpenes and constituents removed.
The entourage effect is used to describe the experience a consumer may feel when taking CBD in addition to other natural occurring components within the cannabis or hemp plant including a variety terpenes and other cannabinoids. This collection of cannabinoids and terpenes interacts with the endocannabinoid system to provide the “entourage effect”. It is possible to experience the entourage effect with full spectrum and broad spectrum CBD products; however, it is not possible with CBD isolates.
Research indicates that CBD is non-psychoactive and does not produce a “high” for the consumer. All products sold on Elements of Green have been sourced from premium providers that have been lab tested verifying the THC content is below 0.2 per serving. This amount of THC is not significant enough to provide a psychoactive effect.
